Quaker Concept of God being in Everyone
Joseph and the Rowntree family’s life and work is informed by their Quaker faith. Typically Quakers seek to experience God directly, within themselves and in relationships with others and the world. They believe that there is ‘that of God’ in everyone’. Quakerism can be described as a way of life, rather than a set of beliefs. It has roots in Christianity and a long tradition of actively working for peace and opposing war. “Quakers are a faith group committed to working for equality and peace. We try to live in truth, peace, simplicity and equality, finding God in ourselves and those around us” – York Area Quaker Meeting.
